The Mathematical Society of South-Eastern Europe is organizing the 20th Mathematical Olympiad for first and second year university students, SEEMOUS 2026. This well-established University student competition will be hosted by the Cyprus Mathematical Society between 03-08 March 2026 in Paphos, Cyprus. Arrivals can be made to the Larnaka or Paphos International Airports. More details for team registrations and fees will be announced soon in the site www.cms.org.cy.
We kindly invite you to participate in SEEMOUS 2026 with a team from your university. The aim of this competition is to challenge and encourage mathematically gifted University students for further development in Mathematics, to help them communicate and cooperate with other students and possibly future colleagues as Mathematicians, to create a friendly relationship and cooperation between our mathematical societies and University Mathematics departments.
Regulations: A team may consist of up to 6 students and 2 professors (a team leader and a deputy team leader). Eligible students are those who are not students beyond the second university year of undergraduate studies by the end of the 2025/2026 academic year or have not completed more than 120 ECTS credits until 1 March, 2026. Students may participate as a University Team or a National Team. The deadline for submitting the registration form of participation is 16 January 2026.
Problem proposals: Each team can send up to three problem proposals until 30 January 2026. Problem proposals must be written in English. Problem submissions in LaTeX are encouraged but the use of MS Word documents (doc or docx), with Times New Roman font, formulas in Equation or Math Type 6+ is also acceptable. Problem proposals must be sent to: christofidesdemetres@gmail.com. An email reply confirming the receipt will be sent to you by prof. Christofides, chair of the Jury.
Participation fee information: All SEEMOUS 2026 participants will have to cover their own travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses. A participation fee is pre-paid to the Cyprus Mathematical Society (CY.M.S.) per person. It covers: accommodation (full board) for five nights in a double or triple bed room at “ALIATHON RESORT” in Paphos, Cyprus (https://www.aliathonresort.com/), (Address: Poseidonos Ave 3, Yeroskipou, 8204), farewell dinner, excursion-social event and working materials. The fee per participant from member and non-member countries will be announced soon.
We note that the closest airport to the Olympiad venue is the Paphos (Pafos) International Airport. The Larnaca International Airport may also be used. No other airport exists in the Republic of Cyprus that can be used to travel for this event (arrivals through the Turkish occupied area will not be accepted).
